The Cold Desert called the Katpana Desert or Biama Nakpo, is the highest desert in the world situated close to Skardu, in Pakistan’s northern Gilgit-Baltistan area. The desert contains territories of huge sandhills that are here and there shrouded in snow during winter. Katpana Desert is probably the most elevated desert on the planet.

The desert in fact extends from the Khaplu Valley to Zanskar in Ladakh, yet the biggest desert region is found in Skardu and Shigar Valley

The biggest region of Katpana Desert is found in Skardu and Shigar Valleys. It is called Biana Naqpo and Katpana Biana, in a nearby language.

Katpana Desert is situated close to Skardu city while Shigar Desert is situated en route to Shigar Valley.

Katpana Desert is arranged at a rise of 2,226 meters above ocean level.

This is perhaps the most lovely vacation spots in Northern Areas in Pakistan. It is called the Cold Desert of the Skardu Region. Its hypnotizing cold evenings and great sandy view make it a grand spot to visit. There are enormous sand rises in the Katpana Desert, which presents a dynamite sight. It is situated at a height of more than 7, 303 feet. It is perhaps the most noteworthy desert on the planet.

You would think a place as desolate and sparse as a dessert wouldn’t inspire awe but somehow Katpana does.
