The filmmaker, producer Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has become the pioneer of establishing the first-ever digital platform specifically for minorities of Pakistan. The platform is in the form of a website where the audience can engage in several topics, start conversations, learn about the history and voice out their opinions or their pleas.

The website has been named ‘White In The Flag’ is missioned to be used as a tool for students, activists and the other parties to speak up about their issues, what atrocities and brutalities they have to face living in our dear land, and honestly, it’s not just a platform but so much more, it’s a place where this 3.8% of Pakistan’s total population can feel safe and at home. It can be a place for giving them courage that you are not alone you may be among the white in the flag but you are a part of that flag.

“Approximately 3.8 per cent of Pakistan’s population is its minorities, yet the voices of these communities are often suppressed – between forced conversions, abductions, terrorism at their places of worship and target killings, Pakistan’s minorities face an uphill battle just to exist. With ‘White in The Flag,’ we want to ensure that citizens experiencing religious discrimination in our society are able to have their voices heard on issues that are important to them, protect and promote their rights, have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives and communities” said Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on the launch of this platform.

We hope this one step in this journey builds up its own staircase, and initiatives like these actually help those who need us.
