Chupke Chupke – Lowkey normalizing marital abuse?

Drama serial Chupke Chupke has been the highlight of our whole Ramadan as people enjoyed watching it so much. The drama includes Osman Khalid butt, Ayeza Khan, Ali Safeena, Mira Sethi and a lot of other actors including newcomers Arsalan Naseer and Aymen Salim.

The drama is funny, quirky and light. People love everything about this drama as it is a lot different than Dramas going on right now. Chupke Chupke came as a breath of fresh air but now as the show is about to end, we are noticing something weird about this drama.

Faazi, whose character is played by Osman Khalid butt is a cousin of Meenu whose character is played by Ayeza Khan. They both got married due to some unusual circumstances and now some sort of romance is blossoming between them but the thing we are noticing right now is that Chupke Chupke is low-key romanticizing marital abuse! Faazi is not at all nice to Meenu and always degrade her for being illiterate and mannerless. He calls her words and never ever respects her!  In the last episode, we witnessed that he grabbed her hand and pushed her out of his house just because of the fault of his own sister but instead of saying anything to her, he blamed meenu, insulted her and pushed her out of his house. This is not the first time pass he has done something like this, once she spilt some nail polish on the bedsheet and he yelled at her so bad and called her words. Meenu on the other hand is really nice and try to be a good wife even they both are in the same situation and they both got married without their consent. In past episodes, we witnessed that Faazi is also falling for Meenu and has a soft corner for her but this behaviour of Faazii is clearly indicating that he is an emotionally abusive person who has some anger issues and does not know how to treat his wife right in an upcoming episode they have also shown that Fazi is threatening to divorce Minu and she is begging him to not divorce her! We get that Meenu is not as smart as other girls but here faazi is also responsible for this abusive behaviour and all the people who are shipping Faazi’s and Meenu’s couple are lowkey romanticising marital abuse that Faazi has been doing.

Previously, Ayeza Khan also chose some script that was misogynist and this time Chupke Chupke which is actually a rom-com but these are the things which influence people a lot and it’s high time people should start realising and stop normalising marital abuse. 3 more episodes of the drama are left and we pray that Faazi apologizes to Meenu and they show that he was problematic.
