Shah Mehmood Qureshi Calls out Isreal in recent CNN Interview

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was praised on social media for giving an interview to CNN on Thursday for his bold comments about the Israeli invasion of Palestine and Gaza. The Foreign Minister spoke to CNN and attacked Israel in a state-sanctioned massacre in Gaza, killing about 250 Palestinian men, women and children in two weeks.

CNN host Bianna Golodryga accused Pakistan’s foreign minister of anti-Semitism.

In his opening remarks, he said public pressure was turning the tide, in which case a ceasefire was “inevitable” and “despite Israeli relations”. The host then intervened: “What connection?” She asked him. The answer became a controversial and debated news cycle among Twitterati.  Mr Shah Mehmood Qureshi then laughed at this, followed by the word “deep pocket”.

“I am convinced, the tide is turning. I am convinced the public pressure, the pressure of public opinion mounting and the ceasefire is inevitable. Israel is losing out. They are losing the media war despite their connections,” he said before the truce was announced by Israel.

Bianna Gorodryga then asked, “What does that mean?” And Pakistan’s foreign minister replied: “They are very influential people” and “they (Jews / Israel) dominate the media”.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the UN Security Council has not issued a declaration of agreement. The General Assembly has given the UN Security Council a clear message that ensuring peace and security is its main responsibility. He said the situation could only be avoided by seeking a two-state solution according to a UN Security Council resolution. Peace between Palestine and Israel could only be achieved by a two-state solution negotiating a ceasefire as a first step.

“This insanity must come to an end. We must promote dialogue. We must sit and talk and we must promote peace,” the foreign minister stressed.
