The Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium are in a quieter part of the city. It is leafier, suburban, slightly removed from the tachycardia of London’s chaotic heart.
The headstone reads: “IN LOVING MEMORY OF NAZIA HASSAN — loving daughter, sister, and mother. Beloved and cherished by millions of people. Died in her youth. August 13th, 2000.”
She was welcomed as the Queen of Pakistan’s new music movement and she still continues to inspire others and putting her in the classification as a singer and remembering her only for her singing does not live up to her legacy as Nazia Hassan was more than her voice.
