Ishq Hai – Depicts the harsh reality of Desi Parents
Everyone’s favorite Danish Taimoor is now back as Shahzaib in the latest drama serial “Ish Hai” and his character is giving us some major Sultan Durrani vibes (his famous character from drama Deewangi)
Shahzaib is a young entrepreneur who lives with his mother and brother. He is extremely successful and loves his mother more than anyone. He belongs to an upper-class family and he is also a hopeless romantic. His love interest is Isra played by Minal Khan.
Isra also belongs to an upper-class family and her parents and brother love her so much. Isra and Shahzaib are head over heels in love with each other and their parents get their “Rishta” fixed to other people on the same day.
When Shahzaib tries telling his mother that he loves Isra and wants to marry her, she dismissed his sentiments and said she’s not going to listen to him and he has to marry a girl of her (his mother’s) choice. The same day Isra requests her parents to meet Shahzaib too but they’re also not ready to listen to anything about him and instead of listening to Isra, her brother and parents locked her in a room.
Now the question which arrives in our minds is that how is that even possible? Both Isra and Shahzaib are loved by their parents but their parents don’t even want to listen about who they want to marry. They also belong to an upper class so this mentality doesn’t make any sense here. Like why they’re being so stubborn? Why can’t they just meet each other’s families and decide the rest? But again, maybe the drama is based on cruel reality of our society where parents have this huge ego which doesn’t let them understand their children’s point of view. Parents who claim to be “perfect” sometimes push their children to edge by not understanding them and it definitely leads to disastrous consequences.
The Director of this drama Aabis Raza directed the drama serial “Jalan” recently, so we are definitely expecting lots of twists and turns. The drama itself is pretty interesting and moving in a fast pace.
We are definitely going to watch the rest of the episodes because of Minal Khan and Danish Taimoor’s splendid performances and a soulful OST.
