Ray – What this Netflix’s new release is about?
Netflix India is finally heading towards something interesting and different and “Ray” is an Indian anthology web series on Netflix. It is based on four short stories by renowned author and writer Satyajit Ray, directed by Srijit Mukharji, Vasan Bala, and Abhishek Chaubey
The first story is “Forget Me Not” by Srigit Mukarji, starring Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu Prasad. It is based on “Bipin Choudhurir Smritibhram”. The movie’s premise is as follows. The innovative company’s shark (Ali Fazal) is proud of his vivid memories, until meeting a woman he doesn’t remember and it creates a whirlwind of doubt.
There he is distinguished by his role as a self-fulfilled man named Ipsit Rama Nea with visual memory. His crazy antiquities captivate him, but more than that, it’s the reality check that occupies the last minutes of the film. But as the movie progresses, you can see where it’s leading, which is a bit of a surprise.
Ipsit’s character is scary because he impresses with his elegance and computer intelligence. But as the movie progresses, you’re going to hate his behavior.
The second story is “Bahrupiya”, also by Srijit Mukharji, This story stars KK Memon Menon who makes the most of this spiritually twisted story about prosthetic limbs and more. After leaving his grandmother’s equipment to her will, he decided to get revenge on the people for betraying him.
The Third one is “Hangama Hai Kyun Barpa” by Abhishek Chaubay. The story begins when a kleptomaniac singer (Manoj Bajpayee) encounters a robbery victim a few years later (Gajraj Rao), his attempt to return is not going as planned.”
“Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa” was set in the early ’90s and is based on Satyajit Ray’s “Barin Bhowmik-er Byaram” and is mostly shot in train. This was our legit favorite from the series though!
The final tale is based on the eponymous story and is directed by Vasan Bala’s “Spotlight”, starting with a quote from Satyajit Ray that says “There is always room for improvisation”. The premises are as follows: “The popular but creatively dissatisfied actor (Harshvardhan Kapoor) suffers from heightened anxiety, as another star’s dazzling aura begins to hurt his stardom”
With Harshvardhan Kapoor as the lead actor, the actor is really impressive with his role as a young superstar Vic. He is known for his “look” that weakens his knees. But he realized it wasn’t enough after another icon appeared in the picture.
“Ray” begins with the wonderful story of Ali Fazal and ends with the unique story of Harshvardan Kapoor with a twisted story sandwich between Kay Kay Menon and Manoj Bajpai. Ray is different and definitely deserves every single minute of your time as you will end up appreciating the art and the artists.
