Umer Shareef – The Man that changed the dynamics of Comedy Industry
Legendary Pakistani Comedian and TV Star, Umer Shareef, is struggling with his health condition nowadays. His wife, Zareen Umar, has urged all his fans to pray for his well-being.
Not long ago, Umer Shareef was regarded as one of the finest comedians this land has ever produced. He started his career back in 1974 as a stage artist at the age of 14 in the city of lights, Karachi. During the early 1990s, he rose to prominence with his shows Bakra Qistoon Par and Buddha Ghar Pe Ha, which helped him to create an instant impact amongst television viewers. Shareef began to make the headlines owing to his out-of-the-ordinary and comical style that mesmerized the public through a new flavor of comedy.
Into the 20s, Shareef became one of the saviors of the standup comedy culture in Pakistan. During this tenure, he gained so much popularity especially with his show, The Shareef Show, on television. He invited many celebrities, politicians, and public figures as a guest to spice up the viewers with his funny, irresistible, and gullible comedy styles for all age groups. His vision was to train inspiring comedians who can follow in his footsteps in creating puckish humorous content that can inspire the masses.
Not only this, he was also invited as a guest judge on the Indian Standup Comedy Show, “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”, which showcased his reputation and love amongst people on the other side of the border.
Shareef also received numerous awards for his outstanding work in the entertainment industry. In 1992, he won the national awards for Best Director and Best Actor for his drama, Mr.420. He is only the first person to receive 4 Nigar awards in a single calendar year. The government of Pakistan also awarded him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his valuable contribution that made him the iconic star comedian that ruled the sub-continent for nearly a decade.
We really hope that Umer Shareef gets back on his feet so we can see him again on the big screen, making people laugh with his pure and witty jokes. All the readers are requested to pray for his health and long life.
