50th UAE National Day – What to expect
The UAE will be celebrating its 50th National Day and The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) has endorsed the UAE’s National Day that falls on December 2 as an International Day of Future.
World Future’s Day, which will take place on this date every year, is an invitation to the countries of the world to embrace the future and develop their capabilities in the fields of foresight, readiness and proactive policy-making to ensure sustainable development for future generations.
The choice of December 2 is a sign of appreciation for the UAE’s global role over the past 50 years to imagine and create the future, as well as its exceptional experience in anticipating economic, industrial and social change and its high readiness in future sectors. The UAE continues to deliver proactive policies and projects that enable it to embrace future trends and opportunities in all fields that affect daily life.
Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to his twitter account to announce the Unesco’s endorsement, in a ground-breaking achievements to be added to the UAE’s portfolio of accomplishments.
Dubai Expo 2020 is currently happening and there will be firework displays taking place at Expo 2020 Dubai during all four days of the National Day holiday, between December 1 and 4. The displays will take place each day at Al Wasl Avenue at 8pm. Expo 2020 Dubai has said that entry to the world’s fair will be free for everyone on UAE National Day.
Entry next Thursday would normally cost Dh95, but everyone will now be admitted for free. “We can confirm there will be free entry for all on December 2,” an Expo representative told.
The Beach, opposite JBR is offering a venue to catch the dazzling fireworks, along with live entertainment for the family. Musicians and live band performances ranging from authentic Arabic music, including shows from an oud trio and up-and-coming Sudanese star Amjad Shakir known for his famous covers of English songs including John Legend’s ‘All of me’, as well as his appearance on season three of MBC’s ‘The Voice’ in 2015. Fireworks at 8.30pm on December 2.

Along with a yacht parade, organisers AD and M International said they will be organising a flag-hoisting ceremony off the coast of Dubai Marina at 9.30am, said Captain Shafeeq Mohammed Ali of Dubai D3 Yachts
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced free parking across Dubai on holidays marking the Commemoration Day and the 50th National Day of the UAE.
Except for the multi-level parking terminals, the public parking in Dubai will be free from Wednesday December 1 to Friday December 3, RTA said on Sunday.
To mark the UAE’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebration, massive indoor theme park IMG World’s of Adventure has planned spectacular performances and traditional activities to showcase the culture of the UAE. There will be Arab themed tents, such as traditional henna and falcon viewings along with face painting, all while enjoying the taste of Emirati food. There will also be colossal UAE flags, with live music, Arabic vocal performances, and magic shows throughout the day.
