The upcoming Hulu series How I Met Your Father is giving fans a closer look at the show’s characters’ new year resolutions with just weeks left before the series premiers on the streaming service. The series predecessor How I Met Your Mother was a highly adored CBS romantic sitcom that followed Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) and his close-knit group of friends’ personal lives and romantic encounters throughout New York City. The beloved sitcom HIMYM spanned nine seasons over the course of nine years, capturing fans’ hearts with its unique storytelling and incredibly funny characters.
Unlike the narrator in the original series, however, Cattrall ― bathed in a glowing light and dripping in cashmere ― appears on screen, setting the stage for the epic and presumably multi-season yarn about how she met the father of her children all those years ago.
Present day Sophie, meanwhile, is a Tinder-exhausted thirty-something living in New York City and on the hunt for a soulmate. She’s getting by with a little help from her friends, played by Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran and Suraj Sharma.

The long-awaited spin-off series How I Met Your Father will see Hilary Duff taking on the lead role of Sophie, as the female fronted show will follow the same premise of the original series, with a few remixes, along with a more modern take. How I Met Your Father will follow Sophie and her friends in the 10-episode season as they enjoy all the terrors of dating apps and the horrors of present-day dating. The first season for the highly anticipated spin-off series How I Met Your Father is set to debut on Hulu on January 18.
