Looking Back At The 5 Food Trends That Dominated 2020

    1. Dalgona Coffee: The most famous and trending coffee last year was a Korean version called ‘Dalgona Coffee’. You must be living under the rocks if you haven’t heard about it. It trended throughout the globe literally. So basically it’s an unblended regular cold coffee with the coffee fluff on top rather than at the end of the glass.

Banana Bread: The second most trending food item was without a doubt ‘Banana bread’. It is not something new but it got trended because a) it is easy to make and b) haven’t you heard about ‘herd mentality?

  1. DIY Kit: When the lockdown was imposed and restaurants were completely shut down we were heartbroken and I’m sure you were too and the most exciting thing among all these trends for me was the DIY kit especially of burger joints, they almost turned out the same and the process of making the best burger with your own hands (using the restaurant’s products) was amazing.
  2. Hot Chocolate Bombs: Hot chocolate bombs were discovered in the later part of 2020 when the winter was coming (pun intended), it got so popular because they are very easy to make, they don’t taste like the traditional cocoa powder hot chocolate which was the good part, you can easily make them at home if you can’t have the restaurant ones. The only thing putting us off is the consistency, which is not that thick but who cares when it’s saving a ton of time.
  3. Plant-Based Meals: These new inventions in the food business were not only good news for vegetarians but also for people who love meat and were looking for ways to cut it off their diet. This one didn’t really stand out in Pakistan because we are sure as hell love to take our proteins from the meat.
