JAANE BHI DO YAARO

Janay bhi do yaaro

Two friends, attempting to start up their photo studio, come across shady dealings, corruption, and murder and must fight to bring the guilty to light. Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Vaswani play photographers caught in a messy affair involving corrupt politicians, wicked businessmen, canny journalists (and some hammy actors). It is giving director Kundan Shah (who has, surprisingly, gone on to make some of the awful films of the last decade) the chance to unleash his brilliant satire. He hits all his targets. Satish Shah is hilarious as a dead body on roller skates, and the ‘Disrobing of Draupadi’ scene in the theatre is one of the funniest ever shots. It could have been not very good like the rest of the film. If it weren’t so amusing, that is.

MR INDIA

Mr. India

Mogambo Khush Hua” is the signature line of the villain Mogambo played by Amrish Puri in the classic “Mr. India.” Mogambo is a kind of villain who will remain immortal in every heart. Amrish Puri displays the act of villainy with perfection. He shows the required amount of menace, which helps make his character a classic. This movie is not about Mogambo. It’s about “Mr. India,” played by Anil Kapoor, who has inherited a magical watch from his father with which he can become invisible. But here, the hero is overshadowed by the villain. Anil Kapoor does his job pretty well, and I guess no actor would’ve been able to pull off that role with aplomb like him. Sridevi is truly the Devi of India. Her “Hawa Hawaii” dance number is also the highlight of “Mr. India,” She was also likable as a reporter. Like most of her Bollywood Classics, Sridevi gets her comic timings, and the scene where she disguises herself as Charlie Chaplin is hilarious! “Mr. India” is one of the best Bollywood classics in Bollywood as it created an immortal villain named Mogambo.

ANGOOR

Angoor

Based on Shakespeare’s ‘A Comedy of Errors,’ this is a story of identical twins (2 pairs) and mistaken identities. Angoor, directed by Gulzar, is inspired by Shakespeare’s play COMEDY OF ERRORS. Angoor is considered one of the best Hindi comedy Bollywood classics of all time. It is also one of the best-selling videos in the DVD market.

The story Is about two pairs of twins separated at birth (a malik-naukar set each) whose lives collide in adulthood when pair no. 2 comes to team no.1 ‘s city. The whole film narrates the confusion that occurs subsequently for the next two days. All the characters are very well etched and leave a mark. The film has to be watched to enjoy.

UMRAO JAAN

Umrao Jaan

In 1840 a girl named Amiran was kidnapped and sold to a brothel in Lucknow. She is turned into a courtesan and named Umrao Jaan. Nawab Sultan falls in love with her, but the relationship ends when she finds he only wants to marry her to please her family. Umrao then finds love in a bandit Faiz Ali and elopes with him. But returns to Lucknow after he is killed.

ABHIMAAN

Abhimaan

Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Abhimaan is a beautiful story involving many aspects of marriage, success, and competition between close and related. When it happens between a husband and his wife, it’s evident that it will be a troubled relationship. In short, Amitabh Bachchan is a famous singer who falls for and marries a young and talented girl who can also sing. Post marriage, she finds her success as a singer and soon surpasses his husband. And that’s when the problems begin. These problems are called envy, pride, ego (or hurt thereof), anger, and the destructive results of such feelings.

MAINE PIYAR KIA

Maine Pyar Kiya

Most films fail to display family emotions and what happens within families and how they get torn apart, but this film sheds a unique light on love, family values, and the rich/poor divide.

A tremendous moral movie with plenty for everyone to enjoy. Great acting, beautiful songs, and a story that wants you to sit in eager anticipation and hope that Prem succeeds in his quest to gain approval from his would-be father-in-law.

Alok Nath plays his role well, and so does the young Bagyshree. The only person who played under himself was the character who played Salman Khan’s Father. M Behl is splendid as the devious villain, and it is beautiful to see how flexible he is as a good or bad guy.

Metaphorically speaking, this movie is wholly divine and full of magic.

CHASHME BUDDOOR

Chashme Baddoor

Siddharth (Farooq Shaikh), Omi (Rakesh Bedi and Jomu (Ravi Baswani) are three Delhi University students who share an apartment and a permanent fixture on their countenance- their beloved cigarettes. Their personalities are reflected over their bed on their respective walls – Omi and Jomu wear their heart on their sleeves and have colorful cuttings of beautiful women. In contrast, Siddharth, an M.A. in economics, has photos of Gandhi and Vivekananda and doesn’t take any interest in women. Their lives one day take a turn for the unexpected when Omi spots a beautiful girl in the neighborhood. Subsequently, both Omi and Jomu take their turn impressing the girl and her family, failing which they come back and paint a rosy picture to their roommates of all the good times they had. Ironically, the same girl Neha (Deepti Naval), turns up at their apartment as a saleswoman to sell her detergent powder. Both Omi and Jomu scramble to hide their faces, and it is up to Siddharth now to face his fear of talking to a woman. While he is only as right and bright for a situation like this as the clean towel that he hands over for her detergent demonstration, needless to say, both are smitten with each other, and their chemistry crackles on the screen.

NAMAK HALAAL

Namak Halaal

‘Namak Halaal’ provides numerous laughter and entertainment. First, there is the loyal servant (Bachchan) who’s protecting his employer, a hotel owner (Kapoor), because of the promise he made to his mother (Rehman), and he also falls in love with a fellow employee (Patil). Next, a grandfather (Prakash) wants his grandson to make it independently. Then there’s a siren (Babi) hired to assassinate the hotel owner. Then there’s the evil manager (Ranjeet), who wants to frame the mother and kill the owner to take over the hotel.

CHANDNI

Chandni

Chandni is a story of a girl from a small town in Delhi who falls in love with the rich boy Rohit. But though their love blossoms, obstacles come in the form of disapproval from Rohit’s parents. When things get better, fate plays a different game on them. Rohit meets with an accident and is left handicapped in a wheelchair. Chandni, like a dutiful lover, becomes his strength and pillar. But Rohit cannot bear seeing her waste her life on him as he cannot protect her. He breaks the relationship. A broken-hearted Chandni finds solace in a new city with a new job. She slowly pecks her withered life.

Another man comes into her life in the form of Lalit, his boss, and well-wisher. Will she be able to accept his proposal? Again, the movie is worth a watch.

SHAAN

Shaan

Shaan tells the story of an honest inspector named DCP Shiv Kumar (Sunil Dutt), who lives a very peaceful life with his wife (Rakhee Gulzar), daughter, and two brothers, Ravi & Vijay. However, upon investigating different crimes in his area, he is killed in his line of duty. However, later on, his two brothers, Ravi (Shashi Kapoor) & Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan), were persuaded by a circus master and a marksman (Shatrughan Sinha) that a man called Shakal (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) who keeps a man-eating crocodile was responsible for his death. However, after fighting a prolonged battle of great difficulty, they manage to reach the island where Shakal is holed up and kill him, and have the brother’s revenge taken.
